14 Days Kenya Tanzania Crossborder Safari
An all-encompassing itinerary ideal for those who would like to do a walking safari without necessarily doing camping
Itinerary Brief
The programme combines Kenya and Tanzania giving the client a taste of the two Countries, their disparities, different cultural orientations and the diverse wildlife and landscapes. The walks are easy and well spaced thus ideal for every age group. Wildlife viewing is combined with interactive visits to local villages giving the client the other facet of East African that is always ignored by conventional tourists. Our presence on the ground in both countries gives us the advantage of running this trip seamlessly.
Day 1: Walk in Hellsgate.
Drive to L. Naivasha then visit Hell’s Gate National park for walk/cycle/drive among wildlife and explore the gorges. Overnight at Naivasha Lodge.
Day 2: Game drive in Lake Nakuru.
Day trip to L. Nakuru for game drive. Overnight Naivasha Lodge.
Day 3: Loita cultural activities
Boatride in Lake Naivasha. Drive to Maji Moto (hot springs) in the Loita plains. Visit a Maasai “Manyatta” (homestead). Short hike to the hot springs and take a dip. Overnight in mobile Luxury tented camp set up at the Maji Moto campsite.
Day 4: Educative gamewalk
Full day of activities with the Maasai. Game walks with the Maasai Morans. Learn about the medicinal plants. Birdwatching. Interact with Masai people. Visit a local school that rescues Maasai girls from FGM and early marriages. Warrior training activities (body decoration, wilderness survival tactics and folk dances). Overnight in Luxury mobile camp.
Day 5: Masai Mara Game Reserve
Drive to Maasai Mara national reserve for game drive in search of the big 5. Overnight at Lodge inside the park.
Day 6: Game Drive in Masa Mara
Full day game drive. Overnight at Keekorok Lodge.
Day 7: Nairobi
Early morning game drive. Back to Nairobi. Overnight at our Rock House Guest House in Nairobi.
Day 8: Amboseli
Drive to Amboseli national park. Meet and interact with Maasai. Spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Game drive in the afternoon and overnight in a luxury lodge.
Day 9: Longido
Game drive en-route to a Maasai village below the Longido Mountain in Tanzania via Namanga border crossing. Cultural interactions with Maasai folktales under star-lit night sky. Overnight in mobile Luxury Tented camp.
Day 10: Trek up Mt. Longido/ Karatu
Guided by Maasai warriors walk to the peak of Mt. Longido. Enjoy views atop the mountain. Drive to Karatu. Dinner and Overnight at Lodge in Karatu.
Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater
Game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater. Dinner and overnight at a Lodge in Karatu.
Day 12: Trek in Endoro Forest
Hike to Endoro Forest up to the water falls. Return to Karatu for overnight in a Lodge.
Day 13: Lake Manyara
Game drive in Lake Manyara National park. Overnight at Lake Manyara hotel.
Day 14: Mto Wa Mbu/Nairobi
Full morning cultural activities at the Mto wa Mbu village. Visit small scale horticultural farms, banana plantations, local beer brewery and Makonde wood carving workshops and community project we support that include schools and water points. Back Nairobi by vehicle.
